While visiting this office for the initial site visit, we learned they serve many children that have therapeutic needs such as (but not limited to) ADD, ADHD, & Autism.
This office will often have 2 children or more in the office at a time. They expressed a need for a 2-in-1 type space. Meaning, they needed the option to create separation within the room to serve two children of likely different ages and genders that both may have therapeutic needs. It was decided we would install two spaces, each with a TV, Nintendo Switch, BluRay player, and our regular selection of toys and sensory bin. Each TV has bluetooth headphones so that each space can be used simultaneously.
Soft lighting is prioritized as always, and a trundle bed eliminates children sleeping on air mattresses!
Emmanuel and Fanechia Daniel, of North Rock Hill Church, assembled a team of volunteers to install this space, and they plan to maintain this Lily Pad. They have already begun building relationship with the staff. Now, when children are in this office, the staff can notify the Daniel family, and preparations can be made to ensure the children have a warm meal, fresh clothes and shoes if needed, and even someone to come spend time with them and simply play a game with them or read a bedtime story while their case manager works to find placement.

Each side of this 2-in-1 space has a complete entertainment system including TV, bluetooth headphones, Nintendo Switch, BluRay player, Nintendo Switch games, movies for all ages, sensory bin, and toys.
Our favorite question to the staff is, "If you had a magic wand and could make anything appear in this space, what would you ask for?" Their response, "Storage." Lily Pad granted that wish with these three new cabinet units.
In this 2-in-1 space, the couch also transforms into a full size bed. This room now has three beds for children to sleep, and the space can be divided for different genders.
A chalk wall under the window provides limitless opportunity for creativity.
A trundle bed, in the second part of this 2-in-1 space, provides a perfect area for a sibling group to remain close yet comfortable as they sleep. The trundle can also be moved around the room if multiple kids that don't know each other need a place to sleep.
The goal is always to have an overnight placement for each child, but we are learning that the kids like having a bed to lay on throughout the day. Often, as you can imagine, they don't get much sleep when they move to different overnight placements with no permanent place to call home. Having a bed available during the day is just as comforting and helpful as having a bed for youth to sleep in at night.
This CarlyJean Flag is a beautiful addition to the spring colored room. Baskets on the table house markers, crayons, and chalk for coloring and entertainment.
