Lily Pad #19: April 2024
Department of Social Services Union County, SC
Union County is in the Upstate region of South Carolina.
Upon our initial site visit last year, this office was without a visitation space for their families. For family visits, they were utilizing a corner of a shared conference room space in their building.
With such limited space in this building, we also identified a need for car seat storage in their “Interview Room”. This room is used by professionals from both medicaid and DSS.
The building was undergoing some updates which is why we chose to wait for this installation.
We had many student volunteers on installation day from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC.
Kimberly French, a local artist from Greenville County, hand painted the wall mural.

Our Lily Pad signs are made by a local artist, Samantha Cook, @sugar_and_spice_woodworking
We love because He first loved us. I John 4 At Lily Pad, we are guided by the biblical principal of love for others, and we seek to demonstrate this in the care and concern we show for all who we interact with and serve.
Ruggable rugs are included in Lily Pad spaces to allow for easy clean up.
This couch folds down into a full size bed. Underneath the couch is storage filled with clean linens including a waterproof cover, full sets of sheets, waterproof pillow cases, satin pillowcases, and comforter.
Each Lily Pad receives a Chromebook for students to have a device to complete school work, job applications, or telemedicine appointments.
Each Lily Pad includes books for all ages and different languages.
Kimberly French, Artist
Kimberly is the warehouse director at Front Porch Housing in Greenville, SC. She is incredibly talented and uses those talents to serve God and others in many various ways, both in her job and her volunteer time. Kimberly volunteered to drive to Union County and complete this mural wall on installation day!
She is a perfect example of using the talents God gave you to find ways to serve in your community. She has come alongside us and demonstrated God’s love to the youth and professionals that will utilize this Lily Pad space.

One of our foster children was in the office this morning, enjoying the space and was able to relax. I spoke to the team this morning as well, and everyone is so excited to have the rooms. This really addresses a need that we have had for quite some time.”

Getting the carseats up off of the floor and securely stored on wall hooks gave this room more floor space and organization.
